It’s been three years since a day of October 14 when 140 million people around the world disappeared by magic. Is it Biblical abduction? Is the end of the world coming? No one knows anything, but the supernatural event has visible consequences for the whole world. In a suburb of New York, cop Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) does his best to maintain at least a semblance of normalcy in the traumatized community. Kevin’s family fell apart in the wake of the kidnapping: Laurie’s wife is now a member of the remaining culprits, a cult whose members took an oath of silence. His son dropped out of college to become a disciple of a dubious Prophet, nicknamed St. Wayne. Only his teenage daughter, Jill, stayed at home, but their relationship is no longer the way it was before that October 14th. Kevin wants to be with her, but is also distracted by Nora, a woman who lost her entire family in the abduction and is now working to rebuild her life.
